Path of Exile Item Upgrades
The performance of a variety of Path of Exile items can be enhanced by upgrading the performance of them. They can be a fantastic source of additional damage or more AD or even more attaches.
Rare-grade equipment is often superior to modernized Common or Magic equipment due to their high demands.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a form of upgrade that can be applied to weapons and armor items. They improve the effectiveness of the item they are connected to. Upgrades to armor are available in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. Alternatively, they can also be salvaged from items that have upgrade components in them using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.
The amount of damage an armored item or weapon can absorb depends on the extent of its upgrades. The damage absorption of an armor piece will increase when it's upgraded to the maximum upgrade level. However, it's important to keep in mind that this will increase its weight, causing it to be heavier than before.
There are a few different kinds of armor upgrades that are that are available in the game and they all have different effects. For instance, some upgrades give the armor a certain amount of additional health points, while others make it stronger and lighter. The type of armor upgrade that an item can receive will be indicated by the name of the upgrade, as illustrated in the table below.

A few upgrades also feature magic or a mix of magic and technology, which is indicated by an "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Furthermore, some upgrades require a fee to use, which are shown by the "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges for these upgrades change daily or never expire, according to the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest option to upgrade your armor. It can be found by exploring and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive but it can be obtained through smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, such as the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be used on armor pieces that are of high-level. These upgrades can provide a significant improvements in performance and are worth the investment, particularly for one-handed weapons.
The player should be aware, however, that upgrading a piece to its maximum upgrade level can boost its defense. However, it will also reduce its agility and speed. This is why it is generally not recommended to upgrade the majority of armor pieces beyond +9, since the defensive boost gained is generally not worth the extra weight and power cost of the upgrades needed.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades allow players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. For instance an upgrade can increase the damage dealt by shotgun shells or the accuracy of the rifle that snipes. Certain firearms also have upgrades that improve their innate qualities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, reduces the risk of weapon overheating) and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's acceleration for greater damage) are two examples.
The majority of upgrades to weapons require a whetblade. It's one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. They can be obtained by completing Side Quests, killing a certain amount of monsters or bosses or by contacting the Weapon Upgrade NPC located in Central Flarine.
To upgrade an equipment set, weapon piece, or Whetblade you need to visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee that is a certain amount of Bars. The more bars you need to complete an upgrade, the higher the level. If you have multiple upgrade materials the cost of upgrading will be less.
In Chapter 2: Season 5, the method of upgrading your equipment and weapon sets has changed a bit. In the past you could search for an Upgrade Bench and pay a set number of Bars to upgrade your weapon or equipment to a higher quality. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level, at which point the upgrades would be reset.
You can still do this, however, the process is high on RNG and low on agency. It is better to purchase gear that has low upgrade levels, but high base scores and stat distributions. These will then have a better chance of bringing you the highest tier bonuses and blessings.
To increase their level quicker, players usually prioritise upgrading their weapons. Additionally players, they should think about upgrading the weapons favored by their squadmates to increase their power as well. Shepard for instance, should upgrade the M92F in order to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will increase the effectiveness of the weapon when used in conjunction by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to improve the effectiveness of a skill or provide additional effects on weapons and armor. Jewelry crafting is a method of making them, in which you combine the gemstone with specific reagents on a jewelry table. The higher the grade of the gem, the greater the secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses all over the world, or through salvaging Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.
The Jeweler can enhance the quality of a gem in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. The stat boosts will vary depending on the tier the jewel is at when it is inserted into jewelry, weapons or equipment.
The Jeweler can create the highest levels of gems with the exception of rare and legendary ones, which you must be at an appropriate level to obtain. Jewels can be replaced by another jewel without destroying the original. You can only replace the jewel once in an item of equipment.
It is typical to use more gems for aesthetic reasons. In addition to enhancing performance, the diamonds create an outer layer that is more durable than metal, which means that repeated friction from pivots doesn't cause damage as easily.
In addition to the above upgrades players can also obtain glyphs for their shields and weapons from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs give a slight boost and can be swapped, but they're not guaranteed to show up as loot. Glyphs, like jewelry, can be upgraded at the Jeweler to exchange Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs are also removed, which returns them to the inventory. Other upgrade components such as traits or aegis can't be swapped, and can only be found by using an Upgrade extractor, or salvaging with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are items of equipment that bestow a wide range of tiny but valuable benefits to your hero. item upgrading can be obtained in the areas of starting as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, or by completing road interactions. They can also be made by jewelers, and then found or purchased at the Trading Post.
The first trinkets a player unlocks will be the cloak, which grants an unimportant but beneficial boost to movement speed and evasion. After that, they'll be able to acquire rings, amulets, and necklaces in the same way to how a player obtains weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has one upgrade slot that can accept either a universal upgrade or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades offer smaller bonuses and can be used in any type of equipment while jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded, and is only compatible with certain kinds of trinkets.
These trinkets can also grant buffs and skills that remain active even when the character is not in combat. This lets the hero be more effective when not active, and can also help fill in the void of a solid team or any slots in the talent tree which would normally be filled with the hero's best stats.
In general, trinket upgrades should prioritize BiS (Best in Slot) items that you aren't likely to replace anytime soon. Then, you should consider any items that have desirable statistics aren't as important as the iLevel of the item that is to be upgraded. This is particularly true if an item has multiple stats you wish to upgrade, since it's generally more beneficial to upgrade one important stat rather than two sub-optimal ones.
Jungle players usually upgrade their yellow trinket to a red trinket at the start of the game. Mid and top players however they will select either a pink or green ward, depending on the matchup. These choices will have a major impact on the hero's map control abilities.
In addition to the items mentioned above, players will find other trinkets that form of trophies and rewards throughout the game. They can be earned by completing certain milestones within the story, like completing a chapter's main quest or killing a particular boss. These achievements can be seen by selecting the relevant achievement from the reward tab of the hero menu.
